Essential Travel Guide for Char Dham Yatra (Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath & Badrinath) (10 Days / 9 Nights)

Embarking on the Char Dham Yatra (Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath & Badrinath) from Haridwar or Dehradun is one of the most spiritually fulfilling journeys in the Indian Himalayas. Spanning a carefully paced 10 Days / 9 Nights schedule, your route follows the ancient river valleys of Devbhoomi: Haridwar -> Barkot (Yamunotri) -> Uttarkashi (Gangotri) -> Guptkashi / Sonprayag (Kedarnath) -> Pipalkoti / Badrinath -> Rudraprayag -> Rishikesh -> Haridwar (Approx. 1,650 km total mountain circuit). Along the way, your private commercial cab halts at key spiritual and scenic landmarks including Tapt Kund thermal springs at Yamunotri and Badrinath, Bhagirathi Shila at Gangotri, Mandakini valley approach to Kedarnath Jyotirlinga, Panch Prayag confluences (Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Nandaprayag, Vishnuprayag), and Mana Village.

Because mountain roads in Uttarakhand climb rapidly from the plains of Haridwar (314 meters) to high-altitude Himalayan shrines and passes between 2,000 and 3,600 meters, choosing a dedicated, hill-certified vehicle from Shivangi Travels makes all the difference. Unlike shared buses or city aggregator cabs whose drivers are unfamiliar with hairpin gradients, our native Garhwali and Kumaoni chauffeurs have driven these exact mountain corridors for over 8 to 15 seasons. They know every safe dining stop, GMVN rest house, medical aid post, and scenic photography vantage point along the highway.

When you reserve a commercial cab with our Haridwar Railway Station dispatch desk, your tariff is 100% transparent. We provide a dedicated vehicle exclusively for your family from day one until your return drop, complete with a heavy-duty rooftop luggage carrier, waterproof tarpaulin cover, first-aid kit, and all mandatory Uttarakhand Transport permits.

fact_check Yatra Registration & Green Card Permits

For all shrine tours in Uttarakhand, passengers must carry their Aadhaar Card and complete biometric/online Yatra registration (Tourist Care Uttarakhand portal). Simultaneously, our Haridwar operations office equips your assigned cab with the mandatory commercial RTO Green Card, Hill Fitness Certificate, and Passenger Manifest Trip Sheet required at Rishikesh, Bhadrakali, and Barkot police check-posts.

elderly Senior Citizen & Family Care Standards

Traveling with elderly parents or young children? Our drivers maintain smooth, controlled speeds around hairpin curves to prevent motion sickness, halt whenever requested for tea or restroom breaks, assist with heavy suitcases, and guide you directly to official pony, palanquin (dandi/kandi), and helicopter shuttle counters.

Best Season to Undertake This Tour & Weather Advisory

The summer window from May to June offers pleasant daytime temperatures (15°C to 25°C in the valleys) and vibrant temple festivities right after the ceremonial portal openings (Akshaya Tritiya). During the monsoon months of July and August, mountain slopes turn lush emerald green with cascading waterfalls, though occasional road clearance halts can occur—our control room monitors live BRO (Border Roads Organisation) updates daily. The post-monsoon autumn window from September to November delivers crystal-clear snow peak views and crisp golden sunshine, making it the finest season for photography and serene darshan.

  • check_circle Layered Warm Clothing: Thermal inners, windproof down jacket, woolen gloves, and muffler—even in May/June, evening temperatures at high altitudes drop near 2°C to 6°C.
